VALID   有効な

Something – for example, a passport, contact, or other document – is valid if it was made in an acceptable way (especially leagally) and can still be used. Something is invalid if it is NOT valid.

valid とは、パスポートや契約などの文書が、（特に法律上）承認された方法で作成され、まだ使用できる状態である、つまり、有効な、という意味です。invalid とは、有効ではない、つまり、無効な、という意味です。

EXAMPLE 1　：Our Business license is valid until the end of the year.

EXAMPLE 2　： I'm sorry, but this ticket is no longer valid. See here, it says that it must be used before October 1st.

EXAMPLE 3　： For added security, if someone types in an incalid password three times, the account will be automatically locked.
