About the role
Leesworth Pty Ltd is engaging Meter Technicians to deliver a large-scale water meter upgrade program across Greater Sydney. The program is delivered for a major water utility, with Downer engaged as head contractor and Leesworth delivering the meter installation works.

The work involves removing traditional, manually-read water meters and replacing them with digital, radio-enabled smart devices.

This is an outdoor, hands-on, customer-facing role. You will be on the road, working across residential and commercial properties, meeting customers at their homes and businesses, and working to a daily run list. If you would rather be out in the field than behind a desk, this suits you.

Your day, your hours
You choose when you work, anywhere between 7am and 7pm. Start early and finish early, or push through and stack the installs. Because you are paid per meter rather than per hour, the harder you go, the more you make. There is no cap and no one telling you when to knock off.

No experience? No problem.
This is work for someone handy on the tools. No previous metering experience is required, as full training is provided. Plumbers, tradespeople, mechanics, landscapers, labourers and outdoor workers with a reliable vehicle are all encouraged to apply. Plumbing experience is highly regarded but not essential.
What you'll be doing
● Removing existing water meters and installing digital, radio-enabled replacements
● Testing and commissioning devices, and confirming successful data transmission
● Recording job details accurately via a mobile app or tablet
● Communicating with customers on site in a professional, courteous manner
● Working safely and adhering to all WH&S regulations and site expectations
● Managing your own daily run and reporting progress to the coordination team

What you'll need
● An ABN, or the willingness to register one (it is free and takes about 15 minutes online, and we can walk you through it)
● The right to work in Australia
● A valid Australian driver's licence
● A reliable vehicle (van or ute preferred)
● Basic computer skills for data entry and email
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills
● The ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
● Attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to take direction
● Availability across a 5-day week (you set your own hours within it)

What we provide
● Flexible hours between 7am and 7pm, structured around you
● Full training and onboarding, no metering experience required
● All tools required for the job
● A work phone
● Plumbguard cover
● Consistent, high-volume work across Greater Sydney
● An independent, on-the-road position with genuine autonomy

Compensation
Work is paid per installation under a piece-rate system, settled fortnightly. There is no cap. Technicians who work efficiently and maintain quality directly increase their earnings, without waiting for a pay review. Volume across the program is significant and ongoing.
