I first stumbled upon a link to The Victoria Room whilst perusing the pages of www. redballoondays.com.au in s e a r c h o f i d e a s f o r m y boyfriend’s 30th birthday. T h e g i f t e x p e r i e n c e associated with the link was titled Chocolate Fondue and Martinis for Two, which immediately caught my attention and it was not long before I was on the phone booking a table for two for the following Saturday night. Approximately a 5 – 10 min walk from the famous Coke sign at Kings Cross, The Victoria Room could easily be mistaken for just another nightclub with its dark shutters and a bouncer guarding the black double doors of the entrance. Once inside however, we were greeted with a warm candlelit staircase that led us upstairs to the bar and dining area. Plush armchairs, bohemian drapes and cushions were complimented by subtle hues given by scattered lanterns, lamps and candles – it was certainly sensory overload. We were seated almost immediately ; luckily I had made a reservation as the restaurant was buzzing with activity, and it was not long before our waiter brought out our chocolate fondue accompanied with mouthwatering Turkish delight, marshmallows, Taleggio cheese and seasonal fruits to dip. Our Espresso Martinis, recommended by the maitre d’ topped off our opulent experience – the evening was a complete success. To anyone who loves indulging their senses, I highly recommend a visit to The Victoria Room
